Montmartre, Paris. A neighbourhood in the 18th arrondissement. Famous for its historical buildings, narrow streets, and a relaxed ambience.
Up until 1860, Montmartre was a different village. Separated from Paris. Until the city of Paris, like any other big city, has expanded and the village became a part of it.
There is a famous cabaret in Montmartre called Lapin Agile, which was a regular for artists, including Picasso. Funny story, it's alleged that Picasso used to pay for his food there with paintings, unsigned. And when the owner asked Picasso about the reason, he allegedly answered: "that’s because I only want to buy lunch, not your whole restaurant”
